Nicaragua is ranked as the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere after Haiti. Although progress is being made in development, approximately 63% of the population lives on less than $2 per day, with 1.1 million of those living on less than $1 per day… this transformational development journey belongs to God. The best of Nicaragua’s future lies in the direction of the kingdom of God and toward Jesus who offers the way. We believe God has called us to Engineering Ministries International (eMi) and Nicaragua to use our God-given gifts in development and discipleship to further his kingdom.

– Brent & Michelle Ellingson

“Sometimes I would like to ask God why he allows poverty, suffering and injustice when he could do something about it.”

“Well…why don’t you ask him?”

“Because I’m afraid he would ask me the same question.”
