Why don't you get paid for your work with eMi?

eMi is a non-profit organization that donates the services of architects, engineers, surveyors and project managers to Christian ministries that cannot afford the thousands of dollars it would cost to hire professional firms when building new facilities in developing countries. eMi seeks out volunteers with these skills, who are willing to donate their time, skills and travel costs.

Are you “self-funded” or are you seeking donations to support your ministry?

Both, we believe that God has called us to this ministry and will provide the funds necessary. We are committing our own funds as well as accepting financial donations to help fund our ministry while in Nicaragua. Essentially we believe in being “God-Funded.”

Is your commitment a full-time position?

Yes, this will be a full-time position for Brent in eMi’s new office in Managua as a construction manager. We’ve made a two- to three-year commitment with eMi, but will be seeking God’s guidance and plan for us beyond that.

What will Michelle’s role be during your time there?

Michelle will be helping out in eMi’s offce and is praying about other volunteer ministry opportunities in Managua.

Will you be involved in building projects right away?

No, we need to spend the first year settling in, adapting to culture and going to language school to learn Spanish. The goal is to open the office late in 2016 and start taking applications for projects such as orphanages, schools, hospitals and water projects.

eMi is a Christian Development organization…how will you spread the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Simply put…by loving God and loving our neighbours. Jesus said to go into all the world and make disciples. By living incarnationally, our hope is to disciple those within our circle influence, in addition to sharing God’s love in practical ways through our work.
