BRENT & MICHELLE ELLINGSON

After 20 years of doing "short-term" missions trip to Latin America, the Ellingson's joined Engineering Ministries International (EMI) and moved to Managua in February of 2016. While Brent was busy at EMI, Michelle followed Gods calling and began helping underprivileged people working in a garbage dump in Managua. During this time they attended a Nicaraguan church where a doctor friend introduced them to Mango. It was there that they witnessed the tremendous poverty and need in this extreme remote region of the country. Sensing that God was calling them in a new direction, Brent left EMI to establish Amparo International. Brent & Michelle founded Amparo International Canada in 2018 then Amparo International Nicaragua in 2020.

Brent & Michelle raised their family of 5 sons in Maple Ridge, BC. They have been married for 40 years and have 9 grandchildren! Before moving to Nicaragua, Brent had established and ran his own construction and development company, while Michelle passionately poured her life into her family.
